New features of the University’s re-branding process, initiated last summer
Palo Alto – March 2013– Sofia University (formerly the Institute of Transpersonal Psychology) recently announced new developments as part of its process of re-naming, re-branding and becoming Sofia University. The re-naming of the school was made official last summer, and since that time, the University has undergone numerous changes, while retaining its foundational mission to provide transformative, transpersonal education to students both locally and around the world.
Expecting to launch this spring, Sofia University plans to release a beta version of its new website, featuring a new domain name: Sofia.edu. The site will have a new look and feel in keeping with the Sofia University brand, will offer new advanced features, and will be optimized for mobile users of both tablets and smart phones.
Further, to increase the university’s global reach and expand its virtual campus, Sofia U will also transition to using a new learning management system (LMS) known as “Canvas.” The new LMS will benefit both local, residential students as well as global students with online access.
Finally, Sofia University will begin offering online bachelor’s completion programs in psychology and liberal arts (with minimal residential requirements) starting Fall 2013. The liberal arts degree will feature concentrations in Transpersonal Studies, Business and Leadership and LGBTQ Studies, while the psychology degree will feature specializations in Business & Leadership, Coaching and LGBTQ Studies.
Sofia is also building on its historic range of international collaborations and partnerships, with new programmatic conversations under way in China, Hong Kong and Europe.
Sofia University President, Dr. Neal King, stated, “We are very excited to move forward building upon our distinguished past and becoming the world’s first and only transpersonal university. We will be offering new programs and deepening our connections in the community, while continuing to champion transformative, transpersonal education.”
